Lisa Ritzen-Sonntag has been involved with horses her entire life. She grew up riding western on her parent’s farm in Newtown, PA, but soon discovered the art of jumping. She credits her quest to become a talented trainer to her ownership of young, green ponies and horses in her youth.

Lisa successfully competed on the IHSA Team for Bucks County Community College (BCCC). While there she won both Regional and Zone titles, and was sixth place at Nationals. Lisa is now Head Coach for the BCCC IHSA Team. In her early twenties she ventured to Germany to work and train with Hans Gunter Winkler and Debbie Malloy. Hans is a five time Olympic medalist. While there she learned the classic German technique of riding and training.

For the past ten years Lisa has been taking students to local and rated shows, while showing herself when time allows. She currently is on the board for the AHS. She enjoys coaching beginners thru advanced riders, working with the individual to achieve their equitation goals and watching the progress of their horse(s). Whether her students want to compete in the show ring or build their confidence around and on a horse, she will always give her utmost attention and patiently oversee their progress.
